Guardianship

SKD is able to provide parents with the comfort and reassurance that their child is being looked after by caring and experienced individuals. SKD is able to administer all arrangements between the child's parents, the school and the appointed guardian host family, to help ensure the child's general welfare and to provide an accessible home base during half-terms, exeats and some school holidays.

We have experience in advising parents and students from all over the world, including Korea, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, Russia, Africa and Europe.

Our guardianship service can include the following:-

Welfare

Selecting a suitable guardian host family who will welcome your child into their home
General liaison with the school
Arranging for your child to be met on arrival in the UK and escorted safely to school
Obtaining school uniform, everyday clothing and sports equipment
School holiday arrangements and accommodation
Travel arrangements including the booking and confirmation of flight tickets
Passport and visa formalities
24 hour telephone contact number in case of emergency

Education

Supervision of academic progress
Attending parent/staff meetings or important school functions
Discussing and advising on subject selection for public examinations and qualifications
Visiting your child at school as and when necessary

Finance

Payment of initial entry fees and deposits
Supervision of financial outgoings including the payment of school fees, private health insurance and pocket money
Supervision of non educational expenses or extras (school uniform, travel to and from school etc.)
Payment of guardian host family's allowances and expenses

Guardian host family

Appointment of a carefully selected guardian host family who will be sympathetic to your child's needs and provide a secure and supportive home environment
SKD visits all guardian host families and insists on high standards of accommodation
All necessary checks are carried out by SKD before the family is accepted by SKD
Provision of a single room in a family home at exeat weekends and half term holidays
Liaison with the school and attendance at parents evenings and events where appropriate
