SKD guardian host families willingly give their time and attention to the student in their care and see the benefit of exposing their own family and children to other cultures. Long lasting friendships are often established, continuing even after children have finished their education.

SKD takes great care to ensure that your child is placed somewhere where they will feel at home and be treated as a member of the family.
- Prospective guardian host families are visited in their own home
- SKD takes up professional and personal references and carries out all available checks on prospective guardian host families
- A profile of the guardian host family is prepared for you by SKD, providing information on the family and the accommodation available. (The family must be able to provide a separate bedroom for your child.)
- Guardian host families are asked to include your child in outings and activities and are expected to take a real interest in your child's academic and social progress
- SKD will have regular contact with the guardian host families and your child
- Guardian host families will liaise with the school and attend parents evenings and events where appropriate
