School placement & education

SKD has an extensive knowledge of British education and at present works with over 150 independent boarding schools, colleges and English language schools. The strength of the independent education system lies in its diversity and ability to cater for the needs of the individual student.
SKD visits schools on a regular basis to establish and maintain contacts with Heads and Housestaff and to gain a good working knowledge of each school and what it has to offer, including the level of provision for overseas students.
Selecting a British school for your child
In order to advise on the most appropriate school and course, SKD will ask you to provide some important background information including the following details about your child:
- Level of English
- Academic strengths and weaknesses
- Interests and hobbies
- A copy of your child's last school report
- A character reference
The interview and application process
Based on the information supplied by parents and reports from your child's last school, SKD can recommend and provide details on up to 6 schools. In addition:
- SKD can arrange interviews at the selected schools and, if requested, can accompany your child to these interviews
- Once places have been offered SKD will help you select the most appropriate school
- SKD is able to handle all registration and entry documentation on your behalf
- SKD will liaise with the chosen school to ensure that your child has a sufficient programme of extra English lessons if required
- Assisting with the purchase of uniform and equipment
Preparation and language courses
SKD works in close liaison with many small family run language schools and international study centres which provide carefully tailored 'Preparation for British Boarding School' courses where students will follow a full academic and social programme. This provides a secure environment in which to improve linguistic skills and to adjust to life in England.
- Teaching is generally in small classes with specialist English language teachers
- Subject specific tuition in Maths, Science and IT may also be offered
